i had a birthday party

it's nicholas' 10th birthday party. he complains that every year, it's the same, so this year he's going to throw a party to have something to remember by. since he's invited the neighbourhood kids and some classmates, it should be a house full of party crazy kids.
adult stay out of the way, waiting for the party goers to arrive
it looks empty, wait till the pizzas arrive
the gift house slowly filling up

everyone gather around to sing the happy birthday song                    birthday boy looking so shy...awwww

as night falls, the kids gather out, cool air
from this party, i learnt some stuff as a parent...

1. kids have no inclination to meeting for the 1st time. everyone plays together whether they know each other for 3 years or 3 seconds
2. bring out the interesting toys which requires 2 or more players, you'll soon find them gathering like ants to sugar

3. kids L O V E pizza. forget bout serving healthy snacks, they and you who are serving don't have such time for using forks and nice manners. let them just go wild at parties

4. be ready for spilled drinks and crusty crumbs on floor. oh, get ready the garbage bags at strategic spots. they get filled pretty quickly.

5. use disposable cutleries, plates and cups. you'll have enough cleaning up with the floors, you don't need the extra washing plates job.

the next day, i asked nicholas, if he's happy with the turnout, he is. its been a very successful party, i would say :)

Baby Asher's Full Moon Party

Only a month old, already having parties thrown for him. It doesn't matter that he don't realise what's going on, the most important is that when he is older, I can show him that it's all been done for him.

Colours...Door to my Home

Renovating a home is not difficult. It's coming up with H-O-W you want to do up the home, now that's the ultimate challenge. Excellent coordination on executing those ideas will result in good timing, cost saving, lesser headaches and minimise arguments with your spouse and the rest of the your family members who suddenly seem to have taken a keen interest in how you should be doing things THEIR way. That's how my story begins....

A lot of spice, adding on with salt and pepper to taste...that was the lesson I learned in my first home. I've got a lot of stories and photos to share, not much time to do it though as the ideas are still coming plus lots of buying and planning yet to be done. So, I like to share one of my bright ideas. DOORS. Yes, colour adds fun to the home. I chose the Little Red Door as my own (Loving all red) and then there's the Blue Door, Orange Door and Yellow Door.

I like to tell people to go to the Blue Room or Orange Room, etc if I am directing them to one of these rooms, rather than 2nd Room, 3rd Room. On top of that, in a house of white walls, having coloured doors does magic to the place. *wink*

The 1st Month....

Now that the 9 months are over, a lifetime has just begun. During my 1st month, I learned to respect the demands of a little fella, keeping my patience and emotions in check all the time. Now that's altogether a whole new story to tell, but I will not go into it here. I realise that during my pregnancy, there were information which I could not get because not many people find it important enough to blog about, hence I like to expound on some little details I was blessed with :

1. Malaysian Birth Certificate and MyKid
2. Klinik Ibu dan Anak

My baby's birth cert was applied in the JPN, Bandar Tun Razak branch. What I've attached is to show you how a Malaysian Birth Certificate looks like. All it took was approximately 15-20min and voila!! you are presented with the Birth Certificate and a receipt to collect the MyKid after a month's time. Remember to bring along mommy's check up card, IC and daddy's IC (all photocopied 1 set) as well the forms prepared by the hospital. All done F.O.C. Do not forget to laminate the Birth Certificate, it's quite a big piece of paper, easily bent and spoiled.

Next, I visited the Klinik Ibu Dan Anak in Cheras Makmur. Usually, the Klinik will accept you based on your address. It's quite a good system, I must say. based on geographical aspect, as well, it's convenient for you. I have always thought the government subsidised clinics or any service counters are only for certain qualified citizens, mainly the low income group. Lo and behold, not only do they allow me to register with them, I was also given an appointment for baby's 1st month vaccination. I am very pleased with the services as the nurses are well equipped in knowledge, friendly, more than ready to educate 1st time mothers on whatever questions you may have. The clinic is well maintained, there wasn't a people jam as I had anticipated. baby's 1st year vaccinations are very important, not to mention costly. I will encourage you to visit your nearest Klinik Ibu Dan Anak because you will be well taken care of and it's F.O.C. What more can you ask for? *wink*

Savings - Fridge and Air-Conditioner

Electrical appliances are one of the more expensive items for the home. I've done my share of research and decided that D'Legend LCD & Hifi along Old Klang Road (Next to Tesco Scott's) is undoubtedly the lowest priced shop around Klang Valley. The name sounds limited, but be assured, they are a well equipped electrical shop with a wide range of appliances. They even have this service, whereby they will jot down on a piece of paper, the prices of products and brands you want. Bring this paper along to other shops to compare.

Besides already saving on the total purchase price, then comes along this scheme by Kettha. Log onto www.saveenergy.gov.my whereby you can rebate up to RM200 (Refrigerators) and RM100 (Air-conditioner). Terms and conditions apply of course. Only selected brands and models qualify, which I am sure you can find one suited according to the requirements, since you can get a rebate, hey, what the heck, right?!

It's these types of rebates and goodies which really brightens my day. So, don't forget to save, save and save.

Truly Happy

I've only begun to recently tell friends about my expecting a new arrival. Of course, I get all sorts of surprised reaction. For those who knew it quite late, it's my bad for not telling you earlier, as I've been caught up with decorating the new house, new job and baby planning, hence no time to really go and catch up with friends.

In the midst of all this, I can really see how friends are going the extra mile, just to care and bless me with concern and love. You know who you are, and I love you for that. Now that I'm in my 8th month, I'm getting quite excited about the D-A-Y. All fears gone, all I want is just for baby to be in my arms. That is a totally different journey all by itself. I am truly happy, I am.
